Yesterday was "THE day!"

Well, yesterday was "the day!" It was "the day" that my youngest had talked about for over a month!! It was "the" Aly & AJ concert with Corbin Bleu, Drake Bell and Bianca Ryan!!

The day began with the girls arriving at my house by 3:45 PM. These are my youngest's BEST, BEST, very BEST friends from school (and the friends that mom here likes the BEST for her to be "hanging" with). Some cheer with her, some are just like sisters to her. All are very, very nice girls. We headed off to DTE in Clarkston. We stopped on the way at Wendy's in Auburn Hills, which, luckily had an Arby's right next door. . . So the girls had their choice; Wendy's or Arby's. Since we made good time traveling and beating rush hour traffic - we ate inside. (I didn't want greasy fast food marks on my leather seats either!)

We arrived at DTE a little after the gates opened and found our perfect place on the lawn. We spread out the blankets and got comfy. From the moment we arrived at the concert until the last minute we left the girls were beaming. They loved their first concert "on the lawn!" Before the concert started they purchased their Aly & AJ T-shirts and promptly put them on over their clothing. The girls laughed, they danced, they jumped, they screamed, they screamed some more, they were having the "time of their lives."

I would have loved to post pictures of them all dancing, screaming, jumping, but I don't think I should post pictures of other people's children on my page. It just isn't proper. So, here's the back of them :)

I sat back and took in all the excitement. Even though my youngest calls me "old," I was a pretty "cool" old mom last night to all the girls. "I" was the one who agreed to take them to the concert - - not the younger "cool" moms. . . and I sat back, watched them and . . . smiled . . . watching them all have the time of their lives and I was the one who had been blessed to have had this opportunity!! :)

Blessings

Am I a blessed Momma, or what? Look at these beautiful girls - - - our daughters. Where does the time go? Just yesterday we brought them home from the hospital. Our oldest has already started back to class at college and the youngest starts 8th grade on Tuesday!!! I'm not sure where the time goes; but I know that I want to spend as much of it as I can with these two special blessings. Thank you Lord for my beautiful family : > )

HELP WANTED

HELP WANTED - A few good men and women!!

Hello to all my Blog friends:

My husband has asked me to work for him!!!! He wants me to help him start recruiting a "few good men and women!!" I thought I would start with my friends, blog friends and acquaintances first. You may be, or know of someone personally, who could be interested. Those of you who know me personally, know who my husband's employer is. Those of you who don't know me personally, "comment" to me on this blog and I will respond with more detailed information and how to apply.

Here's the basics; My husband is a "partner" with a large, large, did I say LARGE computer/consulting company. He is looking for employees who possess a knowlege of the "SAP" system. If you don't know what SAP is, you don't qualify!! My husband likes to "hand pick" his employees himself to place on the projects he in responsible for implementing and administering. You must be willing to travel. Not just once in a while travel, but EVERY week travel. You travel (fly normally) to the customer's site and work on implementing the new system. It's normally 4 days gone and Fridays or Mondays working from home. Unless, they are really close to a critical dead-line, then the days, hours change. So, if your wife, husband, children, or you would have a problem with this, it's not for you.

. . . How do we manage this schedule? Well, that's a whole new blog :)

Gee, I think I need to ask HIM what he's paying ME?????

Blessings,

Sheryl

What Was I Thinking?

Well, what was I thinking? I've commited to taking my 13 year old and 4 of her friends to the Aly & AJ concert on Thursday. They are so excited (not that it takes much to get a bunch of 13 year old girls excited). Appearing with Aly & AJ is Corbin Bleu, Drake Bell and Bianca Ryan. Never heard of any of them, have you? Apparently, they are all on the Disney channel. So, at least we won't have "language issues" at the concert. I did have my 13 year old play their music for me so I would know if it was appropriate or not. Seems fine to me. Pray for nice weather, since we'll be sitting on the lawn!! Even if it rains I'm sure the girls will have a wonderful time. Do you remember that age. . . . not a care in the world and the most important thing in your world was FRIENDS? . . . Carefree and living the good life. But, what was I thinking???

Where did summer go?

Well, we're winding down from the summer of 2007. I don't know about you, but I'm ready for it to end too. Maybe it's because the following season, "Fall" is my absolute favorite time of the year.

It's been a busy, busy summer for me with projects I'm trying to start, make progress on or complete. I don't know why I even attempt larger projects in the summer since it's hard to get a block of time without interruption (because of the running around I do as a "Taxi Mom!!!")

The best part of this summer, however, is that my youngest and I have actually "bonded" a little, but please, don't tell her this!! We spent a few weeks "alone and together" at the cottage and survived to talk about it. She's 13, remember? The shock of all was that "she" was the one to suggest we do this - just mom daughter time she said. Wonderful. Amazing. Memories I will always cherish.

I'm looking forward to school beginning - at least we are all on a schedule (and the youngest is getting bored and misses her routine and friends). Fall, it's a nice time for new beginnings, fresh starts, back to school. I have projects I will tackle once we're all "back in the groove." I want to paint the master bedroom/bathroom and the bathroom in the guest bedroom. I have an old antique secretary that I need to refinish. . . and other miscellaneous things to do!! I'm going to start volunteering one day a week in our church office too. The rest of my time, I'm not in a hurry to book up or commit my time to. . . . that seems to happen all by itself :)

Estate Sales are Excellent!!

Last weekend while at the cottage with my hubby - - I found an Estate Sale. I even got my hubby to join me!! Husband and I got up early on Saturday, drove to a nearby little town and found the most wonderful Estate Sale I had read about. Items were displayed from the early 1900's. The owner of the house at one time owned a general store in town. All of the original store records, wooden counters, display cabinets, etc. were for sale. The household was filled with vintage finds. Of course, as the saying goes, "one person's junk is another person's treasures!!" My husband kept asking me "Why do you want that?" "What is that?" "What are you going to do with that?" But, he was a good sport and let me keep looking (and buying).

I think I have such a fascination to antiques and vintage things because my grandparents had so many children (13 dad's family, 7 mom's family) that nothing was left to pass down my way. Of course, there was that one greedy aunt . . . well, we won't go into that!!! I see things that remind me of visits to the grandparents when I was a small child and these things bring me joy and comfort.

Here's some of my wonderful finds for the day. Did I mention everything was 1/2 off on Saturday because the sale started on Friday? Well, everything was 1/2 off!!

I got the copper (yes, copper - it's a fortune these days) trough (with a cover), vintage silhouettes of the woman who lived in the house (dated 1940). I purchased a vintage needlepoint, hats, linens, crochet collar, an old iron (dated 1904), thread spool holder, crumb collector (I think this is called a "dumb waiter" - they were used to brush the table of crumbs before dessert was to be served), an old enamel bucket, sauce pan and an old brush from Fuller Brush Company (remember the Fuller Brush man who would come door to door? I remember my grandmother loving those visits.) Anyways - my collection was a mere $48!!! I think that it was a pretty good day. These antiques will look great in my cottage. Some items I may keep, some I may resell on E-bay.

Estate Sales. . . the thrill of the hunt!!!!

Blessings until next time!!
